چکیده

We study the property of matter in equilibrium with a static, spherically symmetric black hole in D-dimensional spacetime. It requires this kind of matter has an equation of state ω ≡ pr/ρ = −1/(1 + 2kn), k, n ∈ N, which seems to be independent of D. However, when we associate this with specific models, some interesting limits on space could be found: (i)D = 2 + 2kn while the black hole is surrounded by cosmic strings; (ii)the black hole can be surrounded by linear dilaton field only in 4-dimensional spacetime. In both cases, D=4 is special.

Uniqueness and Non-Uniqueness of Static Vacuum Black Holes in Higher Dimensions

With the development of string theory, black holes in higher-dimensional spacetimes have come to play a fundamental role in physics 1). Furthermore, the possibility of black hole production in high energy experiments has recently been suggested in the context of the so-called TeV gravity 2). A TeV-size black hole in TeV gravity is small enough to be well approximated by an asymptotically flat b...

No Scalar Hair Theorem for a Charged Spherical Black Hole

This paper consolidates the no scalar hair theorem for a charged spherically symmetric black hole in four dimensions in general relativity as well as in all scalar tensor theories, both minimally and nonminimally coupled, when the effective Newtonian constant of gravity is positive. However, there is an exception when the matter field itself is coupled to the scalar field, such as in dilaton gr...

Black Holes with Flavors of Quantum Hair?

We show that black holes can posses a long-range quantum hair of super-massive tensor fields, which can be detected by Aharonov-Bohm tabletop interference experiments, in which a quantum-hairy black hole, or a remnant particle, passes through the loop of a magnetic solenoid. The long distance effect does not decouple for an arbitrarily high mass of the hair-providing field. Because Kaluza-Klein...

Quantum Hair, Instantons, and Black Hole Thermodynamics: Some New Results

We present results obtained by a consideration of the non-classical energy momentum tensor associated with Euclidean Instantons outside the event horizon of black holes. We demonstrate here how this allows an analytic estimate to be made of the effect of discrete quantum hair on the temperature of the black hole, in which the role of violations of the weak energy condition associated with insta...
